CIVIC CENTRE
The Civic Centre was built in 1990 as a community resource and as an administration base for the Town Council. The Civic Centre is accessible to all members of the community with accessible toilets for disabled people, baby changing facilities and a lift to the first floor.
There are 5 rooms, of differing sizes, at the Civic Centre that are available for hire for a wide range of events from meetings and AGMs, training days, seminars and conferences to wedding receptions, discos, parties, exhibitions, adult education classes, plays and concerts.
With room hire charges starting at £7.00 per hour plus VAT for non-commercial hirers and £14.00 per hour plus VAT for commercial hirers, the Civic Centre is a popular venue.
It is close to both the bus and railway stations, and to free car parking in Luxford Field car park just off the High Street.
There is also a range of audio visual equipment available to hire for events and functions, including a digital (powerpoint) projector, OHPs, TV/videos, flipcharts and portable hearing loop.
For use in the Weald Hall only, there is a PA system with either standard, radio or lapel microphones, induction loop system and wheelchair lift for access onto the stage.
The stage itself comprises a modular system that can be used either as one-third, two-thirds or full stage depending on the requirements of the hirer.
In 2005, room hire administration was subject to a Best Value review which recommended the addition of new equipment for hire and set a formula for the annual review of charges.
The Council Offices are situated on the first floor of the Civic Centre and are open to the public Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm.
Staff are available to help customers with enquiries about any of the Council’s services, including allotments, room hire, and tickets for any of the Weald Hall events.
